>>3267905So I got the Heidelberg Tango model, mainly because there's still one guy (with an assistant) that can still work on them and plans on working on them for the long term. When he came out to give it a tune up he told me that 2500 of that machine were made in total. Of that he estimated that half of them were literally carted out into dumpsters when major publishing companies switched to digital. He says that out of the half remaining, probably only about half are in working order and used on some sort of maintainable basis.
Of course there's still the Howteks which are produced today (I believe with a modern USB interface to boot) and many other scanner brands available such as Scanmate or Color Getter. There are probably a staggering number of these machines sitting in garages or basements just waiting to go up on ebay someday.
Have another drum scanned sheet. This one is a negative which is much harder to work with in the drum scanner world.
