Means it's smaller, and size of lens matches focal length a bit better.
If you remember the DSLR days, the old wide angle DSLR lenses were giga huge, massively retrofocal, and it always hurt the image quality compared to mirrorless wide angle.
Sony has been keeping those precious lessons in mind while designing that lens. "The less retrofocal, the better"
(means it n actuality takes far more advantage of close flange than the gm1 and the canon and the nikon)
