>>3791929I think both Ektar and Portra are rough to get decent sky colors with midday blue. It almost always goes toward cyan, but this is mostly up to the person scanning it. It wasn't really that way back in the wet printing days.
I don't really love shooting Portra in midday and tend to go for more golden hour or sunrise/set/twilight hues. When I do use it during the daytime you have to tackle the cyan skies when editing. A quick hue/sat layer does the trick, slightly shift cyan towards blue, then desaturate it. You can also experiment with the lightness in the cyan channel, either up or down. This will depend on your capture device/DSLR you use for scanning.
