>>3212101>>3212243Well, I finished it last night and tried it this morning. It certainly isn't as good as the first one then again this one uses a random, $3, 3.5", 3x, magnifying glass with the handle sawed off. At least it goes from 4 feet to infinity. I'm sure I can polish it off and make it look better than just some food cans stuck together and take some okay photos with it. Though, the photos aesthetics from it are super dreamy, so it will be pretty hard to make anything good with it I think.
The DoF isn't all that smaller than the other lens, but it is so hazy that it is rather difficult to get things into proper focus. Plus, the focusing "mechanism" is a bit rough to say the least. The focusing indicator light in the camera doesn't work with this lens it seems, but works very well with the other one. It is better to eyeball the focus then like a macro lens, move the camera back and forth for more precise focusing. This one is brighter/faster than the other lens, but the haziness negates that quite a bit.
I won't be posting many photos from this one since I don't have very good subjects around here that I haven't already taken with the better lens and posted. It makes everything have a very Silent Hill/Underwater/Fog aesthetic. It might make for some neat video if the focusing mechanism was smoother. regardless, the proof of concept is good enough to warrant making a better barrel and focusing mechanism.
