And honestly, what are these uses where FF gain of performance is really needed? Sport photography, Wildlife and thats all?
Nowadays most photos are seen on IG, where you have a little over fullHD resolution. You could shot with something like d7000 and still have cutting edge quality. You definitelly could shot sport or Wildlife with d7000 and good glass.
