this is what id do with that photo. post is really a matter of personal taste. your pic as it is would work great as a pseudo polish cinema still. what i do is to use curves to separate tonality, sometimes i group similar tones in a certain range, and sometimes i boost some specific, narrow range of tones that enhance things i want to stand out, just as you would with a graphic eq to a song or instrument.
i do a first curves to get a general feel fo what i want. then i do a second curves post on top of that to fine tune it. then i do some brightening of highlights with the burn tool. here i did it to the grass and tree foliage, brightening the grass helps making the girl stand out more. finish with a bit of sharpening.
