>>3552180They certainly look gold plated and considering the insignificant amount of gold required for that, easily could be. It's probably some form of titanium oxide though, as it is a lot more durable. I have a few bike chains coated in it and they are the only ones I haven't stretched after 6 months... just from a thin plating, which does not wear off while rubbing around an entire drivetrain, it's so hard.
Always wondered what the rings were made of. I leaned toward that because I have never seen it scratch off, and looks much too nice to be some solid brass alloy.
