>>3635759After owning the PD messenger bag, I went with the Lowepro Freeline when buying a backpad. It's the same shelf concept as the PD backpack but doesn't have the flap. I hated the flap on my messenger bag because it had a tendency to unlatch when moving in and out of my vehicle, storage, etc. even with the magnet. The Lowepro is also a bit more rigid.
Note, though, that you can't carry much gear with a shelf layout and nothing is ever really firmly in place. If you want a more typical camera backpack with the same form factor as the PD and the Freeline, get the Think Tank Urban Approach. I use one, and it's excellent.
