I always heard that with film you should meter for the shadows to preserve detail since the film will handle the highlights well (the opposite of digital), but I've had a lot of fun in high contrast situations metering for the highlights and letting the shadows go to black.
Metered for shadows, mid tones, and then highlights. Sorry it's a little over 1000px on the long side, not by much.
HP5 in ID-11 1:3. Definitely encourage my fellow anons to experiment with conventional wisdom.
