Instagram is hateful and I dislike everything about it. For certain types of photography it can be the best internet tool though. You can get around phone only posting pretty easily by having chrome emulate being on a mobile device. Right click on the instagram page and select 'inspect'. You can then emulate being on a phone from your desktop. You sometimes need to reload the page in order to get full functionality.
Flickr and 500px used to be pretty popular/important but not anymore. Flickr just kinda collapsed under its own weight and was run by yahoo. By run I mean completely ignored and neglected. 500px's community is kinda toxic and it got bought out by a Chinese company known for scamming people and ignoring copyright law. Use it at your own risk.
