>>2871553Yeah it just came up, now that I think of it, I might even try it myself. I got a very flimsy tripod for free, just chopping off the legs and adding wooden ones would be a fun project. The weight of the wood would make it quite stable. Of couse, retractable legs are somewhat more work, but it shouldn't be rocket science. Even so, there's always a question thread on /diy/
Here's something I just found, the plan for the legs seems quite thorough. And of course, everything wood becomes better with lacquer or oil treatment
