I will be launching a project soon producing softcore fetish films. I have two video cameras lined up that I want to use, but I need a solid general-purpose camera for taking promo photos. I will also be using it as a mobile camera for shooting video in 1080p/30fps as well. I am a complete newb to cameras, and am looking for a simple DSLR for to fulfill this role.

Currently I am looking at a Canon Rebel T5 as it meets the specs I need. Is this a decent newbie camera or should I be looking at something else?
