Sensors in these are often measured in fractions of an inch, up to one whole inch. Don't obsess over gear too much as you're more concerned about the end result. Bigger sensors get you less noise and better dynamic range, but what's important right now is that focal distances are geared for 35mm full frame sensors, and you will often get the "equivalent" focal distance by multiplying by the crop factor. There are calculators online for this kind of math.
