>>3791935Gosh Youtube and the internet is saturated with fools. Everyone explains the same autofocus settings, but no one extends into the detailed settings on button customization.
I've checked again the Canon R5 manual to also use Canon terminology. It's still very similar to the Canon 5D Mark IV.
- Custom Shooting Modes (C1–C3) register and recall also the program mode (P, Av, Tv, M, Fv). So that's not what I want.
- There are advanced settings on the button configuration option "Metering and AF start" functionality. The 5D Mark IV only allows focus settings there. The manual for the R5 is missing to explain this feature. So how about the R6 and R5?
To check this, follow image related
- Hit customize buttons
- Select the AF-ON button on the camera column
- Select the default "Metering and AF start" (arrow 1. in image related)
- INFO appears on the bottom left (arrow 2. in image related)
- Press INFO to enter the advanced settings of this mapping
Are there exposure settings in addition to focus settings? If yes the R5 would possibly serve my needs.
Essentially those advanced settings add a pimped back button focus that recalls different settings with each button mapping of "Metering and AF start". With this the R5 is allows to map "Metering and AF start" to 4 buttons, so it has 4 slots of re-callable af settings in addition to a default.
Ideally I'd like to be able to achieve the following, where one would be default:
-full coverage continuous focus with face/eye detect, continuous exposure metering
-zone/area coverage continuous focus with face/eye detect, continuous exposure metering
-zone/area coverage single shot focus, ae lock i.e. single exposure metering
-manual focus, ae lock i.e. single exposure metering (this would also serve as AF-OFF in between auto focus)
