If anyone's interested: I managed to fix it. After mutilating half the mount to figure out the problem I discovered the screw threads simply weren't cut deep enough, by just a fraction of a millimeter. A quick pass with a dremel with a fine bit and it screwed on perfectly.

In pic related I even removed the mount itself from my camera to make sure it wasn't hitting anything else but it still won't fit.

Anyone know what could be the problem?
I've seen these lenses mounted on Barnack Leicas before and I'm not aware of any variations in screw thread so I'm at a loss here.
