>>3272120I have an old F-1. It's a barn find piece of equipment that's had fairly little money spent on it to replace the light seals and clean it up.
I have a second F-1 that I bought in working order for €40, to use as a parts-bin when a piece on the F-1 broke. That's it. The spare body is the most expensive piece of photography equipment I have.
Fleabay is full of ripoffs. If you find a cheap, working one, they are excellent machines.
The F-1 is a fucking tank. It's easy to fix, easy to clean - it can be broken down like a rifle to clean the screens and prism. You can buy these parts seperately if they break. It will therefore last a long goddamn time provided it's maintained properly.
They were also bought by the same people who buy EOS 1D's and stuff. People who's livelyhoods depend on its specific features - and so who take care of their gear. Or dentists who never use it but want 'The Best!!'.
I also have a T-70 on order as a backup. It was ten quid. It takes all the same lenses, and P mode more than matches my skill level.
