>>3269872I just went on a trip to Japan with my XA.
It's size is great, you can really keep it in your pocket and take shots of whatever.
TWO issues I personally have with it.
1. The rangefinder patch is not that bright and is pretty small. You won't have much luck with it in low light for these reasons, but you learn to guesstimate with your zones.
2. The film sprockets/advance have given me some issues. They tend to bunch up in the early winding and eventually lead to stalling in the film advance. My gf has an XA2 which is more or less the same aside from it's only a zone focusing point and shoot and she had this winding problem with her on the trip. I had a previous problem with it. If it sounds tight and begins to feel weird when cranking, I'd suggest unloading in the dark and reloading if you're a good ways through the roll or just fixing it if you're early on and giving up some shots.
These issues aside, it's a great compact camera that is super quiet and has a good heft to it as well, doesn't feel cheap. I'd recommend it if you want a nice, actually discreet rangefinder.
