The orange arrow is where your mirror is located, if you take a picture, the mirror flips up and the blue arrow can get to your sensor, exposing your picture. That's why there is a little moment of not seeing anything though your viewfinder when you take a picture (parallax error).
A mirrorless does not have the mirror obviously, the image you'll see though your viewfinder is a digital image. Without the image they can be build smaller than DSLRs, the digital viewfinder will eat your battery faster though.
>same sensor and lenses. In image qualityI can't think of any difference you'd have in terms of image quality, as the sensor and the lens are the defining stuff when it comes to image quality. The mirror has nothing to do with that.
