I went shooting at a con last summer for the first time and had a lot of fun just shooting things I like, most of the shots came out like crap but I had a few that I enjoyed taking.
Worst experience I had was from other photographers really that I guess were "pros" given all the gear they were carrying. Had one cosplayer I asked to take a picture of and they obliged, but one said pro nudged me out of the way before I could take the shot, asked them what was up and they told me to wait my turn.
Besides that though I met a few other nice photographers who I had some nice chats with as they were interested in what I was shooting with.
