A good photo for me has to make me think about the rest of the scene. Like what's behind the camera, what led to the events transpiring that made the photographer able to take the snapshot of it.
I'll give you an example of a mediocre photo for me. It can be really aesthetically pleasing and all, everything looks right, but i just know that it's nothing. Someone walked through the woods with his camera, he/she sees a cool tree or something and takes a picture of it.
The picture could be *perfect* in every technical way, but it still fails to make me wonder about the rest of the forest if that makes sense.
So good photography for me, someone who isn't that into it, has to be something that makes me think about the photographer, or the subject, or about what he's taking a picture of. I didn't read the rest of the thread, so hope i'm not repeating anything here.
