Basically it gives you twice the focal length (more zoom) in exchange for smaller aperture.
This is kind of a good thing since a smaller aperture gives better depth of field (while it looks quite flat from your vantage point, the moon has a a more extreme curvature meaning stuff further out from the center of focus will be on a radically different planar depth of focus) and simultaneously reduces light that hits the sensor.
Moon is quite bright, so you should be able to get away with even F16, an ISO below 800 and keep shutter speeds above 1/500 to prevent blur. The damn thing *is* orbiting us at several thousand km/h after all.
