Not only is it dead ugly (some people care), the EVF is useless, shutter sound is loud as hell, it feels cheap and isn't reliable at all, the raw files are awful to work with.. you need to correct lots of colors to make it look natural and the UI is really bad that kills any fun of using the camera. It's a tool at best for one that doesn't care about the experience.
But you are right in saying that Japan hates me. I'm yet to find the perfect camera. I guess Leica is as close as you get with their m-series IF you don't care about autofocus. But even they suffer from reliability issues, not to mention the costs. Still I wish I could afford one.
