I have a 35mm f1.4 but need something wider to go with it. Would you go with the 23mm f2 or the 18mm f2? I have a lot of travel photography shot at both of those focal lengths with a zoom, so either would be used extensively.
The 18mm is nice for this use case because it's a pancake. But the 23mm is weather sealed, which comes in handy when visiting rainy places. On the other hand you can crop a picture taken with the 18mm to 23mm, but you can't reverse it from 23mm to 18mm.
Another pancake is the 27mm f2.8 which is weather sealed, but it feels awfully close to 35mm, so it doesn't bring that much else to the table.
