Exposure blending is fun. I tried it last August with this very high contrast scene. Foreground was in late evening shade, so almost dark, while the sky was still very bright. Two exposures blended together (1s + 1/8s) seemed to result in a fairly realistic, a bit dark, rendition. Too bad I only shot it as 2M JPEG. I was taking lots of test snaps at that time and didn't expect to have a realistic chance for ending up with many keepers.
