The camera is okay for a beginner APS-C mirrorless at that price range, but there are better options for the price (and yes that includes some DSLRs), but that lens is absolutely shit house. Shooting RAW may allow you to fix a lot of the optical issues with that shitty lens, but If you're just going to shoot JPEG, you might as well just use your camera phone.
You can get a Canon EOS 60D which is an enthusiast level APS-C body for cheap nowadays. You can save more if you don't need the extra dials and controls and just go for a Rebel body. There's also the Nikon D3000 and D5000 series of cameras as well. The current Canon and Nikon kit lenses that you can pick up for and extra $20 or $30 are sharp enough for most people's needs (unlike the soft and crappy Sony kit lenses).
More room to take your photography to a higher level with a decent DSLR rather than a beginner mirrorless body.
