Lightning

Can someone please help me? I am literally new to photography, i have no depth or technique at all. And i see shots like this and i have no idea how to make this kind of lightning. Like light is some kind of fog material, i don't know the right term.

This guy knows what's good. Everything he said is pretty true in my experience. The 52mm f1.8 is great and so is the 28mm f3.5. Can't go wrong with a metal autoreflex if you can handle the bulk. If you can't get a plastic TC or T4.
