Look up the smpte gamut specs for film, that's the minimum it has to do, many do lots better.
Or look at skin on film, notice all the subtlety of colour? That's what digital can't do because of its bad colour reproduction.
And please stop with the "it's worse but it's still fine" argument, it's moot, it's either worse or better - film is categorically better in practically every way with regards to image quality.
Medium format portra 160 has a good 60-80mp of resolution, 20+ stops of dynamic range and considerably better tonality and colour. Literally twice as good in every respect as canons best digi sensor, and no banding!
