>>3743448It's not unrealistic to be a trucker, a lot of young people are getting into it.
Full automation is at best 20 years off, the tech is about there in sanitized environments and in perfect driving conditions. Any sort of adverse weather conditions, ice, wind, forget it. Full driverless automation on the public roads is a Communist pipe dream right now you would have to overhaul almost all of the roads in America.
The number one problem I deal with day to day is other cars and 99.9% of them aren't automated, once cars become fully automated then you will see driverless trucks actually being a thing.
The big reason driverless trucks aren't going to work any time soon is all of those automation systems are camera based and cameras can't discern fog from tire smoke from brake failures, it can't see Britney texting on her phone in her crossover with her three fuck-trophies in the back, it can't slow a truck down for an accident or a traffic back up a mile away it has to wait until it can hit it with radar before it slams on the brakes and causes a cargo shift. Anyone who disagrees are seething wage-cucks like

I am about 3 weeks from paying off my truck I'm going to save up cash and buy up more trucks, eventually I won't be in the driver's seat anymore. That's where the big money will be, the people who own all these driverless trucks in 20 or 30 years. And I don't think they will all be driverless, cargo valued over a certain amount will certainly not be driverless.
