>>2574830Yeah it was Australia.
I had to get the follow focus because I am horribly bad at getting focusing right and I thought it might help.
I ended up buying all that stuff but not the matte box.
Do I really need one at the moment?
Making big scale assignments for uni, so small scale in the big world.
I've already got lens hoods.
Do lens hoods block out too much light or something?
>>2574875>>2574879>>2574880This is a little more motivational than informative.
You're a bit wrong in parts because you wanted to be concise.
If had any advice it would be:
Write/get a script that's really simple, easy for people to connect with and structured well.
Then film it in an "arty"way.
One of the cheapest and best film schools is the School Of Watching Lots Of Shit.
Watch lots of shit, from every part of the world.
Every kind of thing.
Make no exceptions.
The stuff you don't like will give you perspective of what you do like.
The stuff you like you use as reference for yourself.
If you want to make more original stuff then look for influence outside of film.
Architecture, anime, paintings, poems, artistic movements, books, video games, music, graphic design, and whatever else.
How you would make a structuralist or a brutalist film for example?
Experiment all the time.
Stop thinking about big projects and make tiny ones where you try out some ideas.
Try and find your voice.
Refine your voice and it will get you noticed.
Not really informative but I hope it makes you think.
