>>2574553Hey OP.
In my humble opinion, this is caused by several factors:
1) A lot of photographers refer themselfes as artists and "analogue" is more artsy in their eyes as "synthetic" digital photography
2) Being retro is still cool in the eyes of lots of people, also photographers
3) Lots of people (I dont wanna call them photographers) think that analoge automatically equals art (especially on /p/)
To be honest:
I went through 3 1/2 years of apprenticeship as a photographer here in Germany. So I'd say that I understand what it needs to take pics, mastering the technology and composing.
And honstly: I personally think that up to 90% of pics I've seen here are horrible, hoooorrible bullshit. Not even snapshots but pure bullshit. Taken by people, who refer to themselfes as "artists" rather than photographers.
This boils down to college education in lots of countries where you have professors, who think they are artists, teach students stuff aabout art and photography.
They dont tell them what makes a good picture, they just teach about art. Thus creating a bunch of idiots who run around with cameras (analogue or digital) and think if they just make lots of pitcures who dont look "mainstream" (whatever this means), it automatically becomes art.
And here comes the problem: These people find other people and since art is disutable, they will find others who tell them, that theit out of focus, blurry shitpics are great and that they are great artists. This spreads the word and even more idiots with cameras run around, making their "art" and maybe mediocre photos as well.
tl;dr 1): Artsy idiots destroy photography by taking bullshit photos especially on film.
tl;dr 2) 90% of pics on /p/ are bullshit of the worst kind.
