I'm planning to backpack around Europe in the near future so I can say I had one little adventure before I died.

I want to see some nice important things but not just a bunch of tourist spots.
I'm looking for suggestions and maybe also people who'd be interested in having a beer or coffee with me.

I'm open to all of Europe but am most comfortable with Germany, so will probably spend most of my time there.

The only real must-see I've on the list so far is a KZ camp. Wouldn't mind something nice and uplifting to contrast it.
