Didn't see the pinhole thread so I'll ask this in a new thread. Anyone ever tried pinspeck photography?

So what you do is basically put a pin in front of a photographic sheet and you get an image formed by the shadow of the pinhead.

That's what I thought yeah, pretty cool. But I still kinda wonder how it could work at all, considering the huge amount of light falling everywhere.

This is exactly what makes me, at first glance, logically doubt how this should work - each 'shadow' point would be illuminated by everything else around it, cancelling the image-forming shadow.
But consider the given examples - very low sensitivity photographic paper and only 20s exposition - the formed image is probably very low-contrast and barely visible with the naked eye and only the very insensitive short exposure process enables us to see the image.
