In all seriousness; EOS 6D for $999 in Straya a month ago, Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 VC and that EtsHaim leather strap for $850 and $50 respectively in Tokyo three weeks ago.

Looking to buy another fool frame body (another 6D perhaps?) as well as a Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 VC to complete my gear whoring for the year.

The Tamron is very very very good and I woul dbe extremely happy if the canon didn't exist.

If you want to take pictures of sports or birds save for the canon because you do feel the slow AF in those scenarios, otherwise don't bother, the Tamron is excellent in every other aspect.

Still happy with my purchase, I will upgrade in the future but preferred to use the saved money for something else

I bought both of these. They're ok. I kinda find that if I zoom-in to the fisheye it pretty much looks exactly like the wide angle. The cool thing though is that they both have diopter lenses that detach, the wide angle seems to be about a +7 and the fishy I think is a +10. compliments my 1-2-4 close-up lens kit nicely.

Wider? Probably the cheapest is use old fisheye manual glass then do a rectilinear conversion.

Unless you shoot canon then just get a 10-18mm

I'm not a serious tographer, and yes they are pretty fun. Results aren't amazing but they are interesting. I like the fisheye more than the wide angle... it's drastic enough to make the distortions permissible. The wide-angle just kinda adds a few degress tot he FOV (and some vignetting grr) but smears the image pretty bad. I can't afford real glass for awhile, so in the meantime these are fun just to take pics when i'm hanging out with friends and hiking and shit I guess.

Also I researched extension tubes and decided on the close-up lenses for some reason. Just easier and whatnot. If I don't do anyting too close or stack the lenses the results *can* be pretty ok. Oh well I guess.

were you that anon that posted here that one time trying to decide between the two? I remember that, said to go with the extension tubes as they'd be cheaper and better. Seems you had a fit of retardation and bought the lenses instead.

but I bought a canon 70-200 f4 L non-is for $130 CAD like-new due to a best buy open box thing. But I have a sony A7, so I'm still waiting for a shitty adapter from amazon to try it out.

I also may buy a a5100 as a second camera for video since I have the 50 1.8 OSS e mount lens (crop lens). but not sure if the XAVCHD will play nice with the normal AVCHD from the a7.

Got this for my GF for our vacation (backpacking) last week. The 400 f/2.8 was too heavy for her, so went out on a limb.

I have to say, I am fucking blown away by this thing. It is very sharp, even at 400mm and the VR is amazing. I have no idea how Nikon did it.
