Why are you showing these to us? There is nothing unique happening in either of these photos. I can walk outside and see random people riding bikes and a guy picking up boxes anywhere. Why these guys? Why these compositions, these angles? Imagine framing these photos and putting them up on a wall in a gallery. Why would anyone stop to look at these? The only thing you've really accomplished is proving you know how to use a camera. Your job as a photographer is to create unique and interesting images more than anything else.
SOOOOOO many amateur photographers, and I see them in every recent photo thread on this board, post photos that are not unique or interesting enough to be posted anywhere or shown to anyone, ever. Because your photo is in focus and properly exposed is not reason enough to show to anyone. It has to be interesting or unique in some way to warrant someone else's attention. You have to go out and find unique things to photograph and use your skills as a photographer to maximize that uniqueness. Anyone can figure out how to use a camera in about ten minutes. Show me something I haven't seen before not just some guy on a bike.
A photo of a guy picking up a box might be good if you had gotten closer, so we could see his face as he grimaces to pick up the box. Or maybe you could have gotten close to him and juxtaposed his grimacing face with the people in the background, contrasting his hard labor with their relaxation. This is how a good photographer should think. Great photos hardly ever fall into your lap so easily, they are figured out like puzzles.
But basically your photos are shit however there's nothing wrong with that, you're just starting out. If you're open to criticism and can remain objective about your work you are already way ahead of most amateur photographers. Study the greats, figure out what genre you like best.
