So real life being in color has no relation to whether your photos should be in color by default. You said it yourself, color doesn't add anything (though sometimes it absolutely does) and something that doesn't add to your photo should be removed. Be it a person ruining an architecture photo, a blemish ruining an otherwise perfect face of a model, or color distracting from the form and texture of a photo for no reason. Most of the best artistic photos involve elements that detach them from reality. If all you're doing is trying to make your photos look as "real" as you can, you're missing out on a huge aspect of expression.
If that's the way you do things, more power to you, go get on with your bad self, but to imply that others are stupid for not having the same goals and priorities as you is insane, and insulting. Try being less egocentric.
