Don't get sucked in by all theses
>muh legacy lenses>muh cheap secondhand lenses>muh low price for high(er) specs>muh in body stabilisationI bought the k-r because it offered better specs at lower price than the competition at the time and I thought I'd be able to get cheap lenses.
I tell you now from a hobbyist point of view it's the worst decision I made.
Got a cheap 50mm 1.4 for $100 (You can probably do better since I'm from Australia) but guess what? It's manual focus. If you go with other systems you don't NEED to hunt for cheap old lenses. You can get a 50mm 1.8 for cheaper on any other system sure it's a tad slower but it's auto focus AND brand new. You can argue that the Pentax lens is better built and it's true but it makes no difference to image quality or help you take better pictures in any way, not to mention it's not even weather proof.
Want an autofocus 50mm 1.4? It's pretty much the same price across the brands.
Swivel screens are probably not a necessity for you but it's definitely useful imo. Especially for macro shots.
Honestly if weather sealing is priority why not look at Olympus OMD EM5. It can be had for quite cheap with weather sealed kit lens and offers everything the Pentax does but in a smaller weather sealed package. Sure the lenses will probably cost more but as a hobbyist you won't be getting very many expensive lenses or any at all. The most important things is, being lighter and smaller you're more likely to take it out and actually shoot photos.
I typed a lot but if I had a choice I'd go back and get a smaller m4/3 camera in a heartbeat even though at the time the system was not as developed as it is now.
