>>2598361I think you could stand a bit more of a heavy hand when editing. Food photography is very stylized, whether it's bright and poppy or dull and vintagey, it's all style. Also, unless you're going for a very specific, consistent style for an entire shoot, then your technical aspects, especially WB, needs to be spot on.
When I look at this shot, two thoughts come to mind:
1) It looks dull. It doesn't look faded, but the plate itself just looks a little dark and matte.
2) There is a lot of really nasty color casts on the plate. That's a white plate, so make sure it's dang white. Because of the odd lighting and probably some reflections, the top of the frame and the bottom of the frame are completely different colors. The top half is yellowish green and the bottom half is magenta.
I'd correct the WB and bright up the shadows just a bit. Pic related is a rough quick edit with those ideas in mind.
