If you're traveling at 80 miles per hour, some people will say they want to go faster, some people will prefer to go slower, but that doesn't change the fact that you're still traveling at 80 miles per hour.
You can get into a hot tub set to 110 degrees F. Some people will say it's too hot, some people will say it's not hot enough, but that doesn't change the fact that it's 110 degrees F.
Perspective distortion happens at close distances. At Distance X, a person's nose will look 20% bigger than it actually is, in comparison with that person's ears. There is no opinion that affects this fact. Some people like it, some people don't, but it doesn't change the fact that when you shoot a person from closer than 8-10 feet, there will be perspective distortion. Saying that you prefer it doesn't change the fact that the nose will look larger than it really is, in comparison to other features.
Nobody. NOBODY. Is saying that perspective distortion is automatically bad. It is simply being pointed out that it happens, whether you like it or not. Your opinion is not under attack. Your understanding of basic visual science is very suspect however.
