hey /p/ im thinking on getting a DSLR for recording high qual video and considering the Canon 70D

Most videos I will be shooting will be cooking videos and such for youtube. I will also be using this for recreational photography.

Most lens choices are 18-55mm and 55-250mm

Are these acceptable? Are there any package deals on Amazon you guys can recommend? Thanks

I own a 70D, I use it mostly for stills but the video is pretty solid.

Avoid those grey market deals, just pay the extra cash and get it from a licensed dealer. Trust me.

That will be a great kit for you. If anything, it will be too much camera for what you're using it for. If you can afford the price without too much trouble, it will make you very happy. You'll also want a tripod.
Package deals usually don't come out in your favor. Get the 70D with 18-55 (used if you can) and then buy a memory card and tripod separately.

Why Canon? If you wanna shoot great videos you should take a look at the Sony a5100 as it's offering a great XAVCS codec which provides outstanding quality. Plus, you get a big sensor and you also save a couple bucks.

Oh my fucking God. Do you even know what a DSLR is? It's a Camera, not a camcorder. Of course you have to zoom manually all the time.

I'd also reccomend this >>2602489 to you too. You probably wouldn't need the 55-250mm simply because the focal length wouldn't really cater (I'm killing myself over here) to your standards unless you're shooting things that are at a further distance away while shooting recreationally.

Honestly if you are a beginner get the SL1 or T5i and that 30mm Sigma prime lens. That will be less than the 70D kit and the you'll notice the better lens more than the better body as a newbie. If you want to do zooming while recording you need to get a camcorder, zooming while recording on a DSLR is a focusing nightmare.

Which can all be used on a sony along all the other glass that can't be used on a canon.

aps-c sensor from canon are smaller than regular sensors of the same format, that's basic knowledge.

Yeah, it's still mostly riding its popularity from when it was just as good as Nikon or better, like before 2008-10. After that, it all went to shit.

I bought a 700d still thinking there's no real difference between entry-level DSLRs, and I still regret it.
