The problem with that is it's different in every shot so it is very difficult or impossible to remove. You can still make selfies or sweeping panorama, but doing anything that needs a more clean shot is impossible, just like astrophotography.
My friends deep sky NEX5 shots look like a vomit of lines, mine with the Pentax (supposedly same kind of sensor) look clean.
So it's not a penalty of shooting jpeg, it's the penalty of choosing a bad camera.
