The focal length is not a measurement of field of view, it's a measurement of the distance from the optical center of the lens, to the center, which does not change when the sensor does. A 20mm lens on M4/3rds is still a 20mm lens even when it's applied to an 8/10 camera, even though the field of view is enormously different.
