>>2617286he's not an idiot, he's just not here for photography. Some people come to /p/ to prove other people wrong, regardless of the topic, or the ridiculous mental gymnastics required to do so.
This mentality is particularly effective against people who choose to trip, and you can see it a ton with isi, and sugar. Oh, this person I recognize said a thing. Is there anything in there I can make fun of or argue with? Yes! isi said a true thing about a camera she doesn't own! I cam try to make her look bad! Does the advice make sense? Yes. Is it presented in a logical, unbiased way? Sure. But I can still attack her about it! Man, trips are the worst. Trips are what are ruining this board! etc.
Nothhing in isi's suggestion is even remotely biased, or incorrect, and it's truly good advice for someone trying to get the most out of a subpar AF system:
>Focus ahead of where people will be instead of trying to focus on them. Lead the shot. >focal length/1 or faster is the ideal shutter speed, but you'll usually need at least 1/125 or so to freeze any real amount of movement (person walking at a brisk pace, etc)>Consider autofocus on cameras like this as an automatic version of manual focus, rather than a tracking autofocus system like a DSLR. If you take that into consideration, you can do most things with it simply by thinking of other ways to pull it off. It's not as though action shots weren't a thing until the advent of blazingly fast AF (or AF period)But because isi said it, it needs to be attacked, and beaten down.
