Wow it's literally nothing. I'll be sure to throw away my GR and get this new one which is exactly the same. Also what the hell were they thinking getting rid of the numbering, so now this is the digital GRII not to be confused with the GR Digital II?

Use one then you'll understand because they basically nailed what most photographers want in a point and shoot.

The ergonomics and performance are basically the best around. One thing Ricoh does really well is UI, until I shot a digital GR I hadn't realised how much a good UI makes a difference to shooting.

It actually annoys me now if I don't use a Ricoh style UI with a digital camera. It's why I want them to bring out a new GXR with m-mount and a full frame sensor. That is my idea camera. Ricoh UI, Sony sensor, Leica/Zeiss lenses.

If autofocus is taking too long for your liking you can mash down all the way on the shutter release and the camera will stop the AF and instantly focus to a predetermined distance and it will take a photo. Usually you set the distance to hyperfocal distance or something like that so you can get a usable photo rather than missing the moment because the AF was too busy fucking around. Since the lens is 18mm real focal length and f/2.8 you have lots of DoF even wide open so snap focus is pretty useful since it'll almost always give you a photo that is mostly in focus.

What does that even mean ? Better high ISO perfomance ? or just better NR in jpegs ?

Also none of those features matter for a real photographer. Toy camera made with consumerism in mind.

Reminds me of the GRD III and GRD IV. There's literally no fucking -signifcant- difference between these two cameras. The GR II is pretty much like the Fuji X100 line- Getting updated for a few more years.

They have one and yet what you predict hasn't happened. Ergonomics on the a6000 are terrible compared to the 2 gr/q, and then it's silly to compare f2.8 on a 1.5x crop to an f1.7 on full frame

I'd wager the main thing he'd say defines a "real" camera is interchangeable lenses. Apparently some folks are happy owning an $800 camera that has only a 28mm-equiv FoV, or else they wouldn't be making GRs, so it obviously fills a niche. But it's also more than reasonable to say that something at that price point ought to be more versatile.

If it was a new mirrorless system focusing on pancake primes, and had a lineup of lenses that looked like the group of DA Limited lenses over in SLR-land, I think it'd be a lot more compelling to a lot more people.
