The point was that until they address battery life, sluggish focussing and lens selection they will never get the better of DSLRs. Being almost as fast with a metabones adapter simply is not good enough in a game where a tiny fraction of a second is the difference between sharp and unusable
With regards to the models you mentioned, the G3X is not out, nobody has experience of using one so there is no point talking about it yet.
I would have thought the G1Xii would have been a better comparison for an RX100 than the G7X. It doesn't matter really they all have shitty battery life. The RX100iii does have more ways to waste it though, with its slow startup time and stuffing around with its EVF on a stalk which shuts the whole fucking camera down when you get pissed off and snap it closed.
I've never used a G7X but I have used an RX100iii and I own a G1Xii. I bought the latter because focussing is more reliable .... not great, just much better.
