Alrighty, your best bet for getting the sugar out is warmed, deionized water. Dunk the lens in it and start gently working whatever mechanical parts that lens has. After a minute or so of doing that, repeat with a fresh container of water. I'd do this a minimum of 3 times to ensure I've gotten all of the sugar out that I can, which will be a bitch because likely that's a focus by wire lens (I don't know nikon lenses) which means that there will be mechanical parts that you didn't necessarily get all of it out of. The more times the better. Add a drop or two of dawn dish detergent to the 2nd wash to maximize wetting (and hopefully save your aperture blades).
Next up you've got to minimize spotting.
Deio has few impurities, so it'll minimize internal water spots, but for your final rinse use pure isopropyl alcohol and let it air dry.
