You never, ever, EVER use WD40 on a camera. Even if you spray it into a container and use it as a liquid. It's bad stuff for the interior of cameras!
If you can't use camera oil, sewing machine oil, gun oil, or clipper oil are ok as long as they're a really light oil.
Also I wasn't touching the mirror with my fingers. The oils from your fingers can corrode the silver backing.
