You dont hear the Norwegians bragging about being the first to the south pole, or the Italians going on about how they found America. Know why? Because its ancient fucking history, thats why. America has been making promises about Mars for so long that now the Chinese and Russians are going to go there first, Just like they overtook you when they pioneered landers on the Moon AND Mars before you could stop arguing amongst each other. Clinton, Bush AND Obama had made little noises about going there first - but none of them has ever dedicated the money to it.
