What would be the best camera setting to get a picture of ghosts?

ISO , Shutter speed?

Do I need a special kind of lens or flash?

Polaroid was great for manipulating for this type of thing. Now you'd just have to use photoshop.

I know some photos are manipulated but there are lots of genuine photos of ghosts

use a cheap lens and shoot directly into a particularly harsh light source

Assuming they were real you'd want to avoid flash and low speed. So a low light lens 50mm or lower and high ISO

You need a m4/3 camera and shoot it at a higher sensitivity than 200 ISO.

Well ghosts are said to exist outside the range of visible light, so what we actually need is a camera sensitive to ir or uv light (will need one of each as they occupy opposite ends of the spectrum)

Normal glass blocks out uv light so you would also need a quartz lens for the uv sensitive camera.

A thermal camera is great for spotting disturbances in the air flow or for hot spots in the room.

As for settings, as they're usually faint and fast moving you will need a fast shutter speed and low iso (so the ghost isn't lost in noise)

Good luck. You're gonna need it. Well luck and money, lots of money.

You have to remove the IR filter of the sensor.
