You move the camera around while the shutter is open and rely on flash to expose your subject.

This shot would be made more difficult by the inclusion of a tripod, as you would be using more like a selfie stick.

Man I'd love to get on open air stages with bigger crowds. So far I've only managed to get into some smaller clubs and I'm working to get a nice little portfolio for next festival season.
Care to share how you got into that stuff? Do you just know the DJ or was this an assignment?

no Tripod, never Tripod! would make no sense and is way too big to move around on stage.
Those shots were made using this easy steps:
0,6s, f7.1
flash fires when I start exposure
I move the camera to the left, so the lines are curved to the right and a bit of wiggeling for dem waves
thats it...
