Sorry in advance lol
I need a multi-use smallish camera, I'm having a hard time deciding between models. I haven't had a camera since an ancient Panasonic P&S and using phone bullshit!
My needs are immediately for a trip to Iceland soon, so something a bit durable and lightER, but I'd also like to have good rep of things indoors, especially for art photography and ...cat pics.
My price range inches toward $800USD, but I'd prefer something between $4-600. Some models I've been looking at are Mirrorless like the following:
Nikon 1 J5/Sony A6000/Panasonic Lumix GM5
but I become really torn looking at DSLR like the Nikon ranges D32/3300 or 52/5300 and shrugging a bit at the lower Pentax K-50/K S1 models...I definitely want something small and quick with great indoor/low light performance to get pics of art for modest print purposes, or fast shots (ie powering on/time between shots/focus) of things like landscape or objects out in the wild for art references. This pretty much makes looking at DSLR pretty idiotic for the size of them and kit I know, I just mourn the "better quality" final images for less cost in the body kind of....batteries and life are another area of trouble.
I like the Nikon J5 and Panasonic GM5 for looks cause I'm a huge faggot (but all the manual control dials are +++), the Sony A6000 is nice but I want to nix it off my list for being a little too delicate for travel (and no removable battery?). Neg points on the J5 I find in some reviews are the flash placement for longer lenses, and the Panasonic seems unduly expensive.
A co-worker recc'd I try a Canon G16, but it had some short comings that made it less exciting for me.
I would just really appreciate help in finding or narrowing down something more versatile camera/lens option than a P&S you know? Is it just too soon to pick up a Mirrorless model at more justifiable cost/performance??
Thanks in advance!
